Hi Tullio-

AncientRitual mentioned the Ricoh first in this Forum and shared where he purchased his CX-1, then I also came across the same Vendor on E-Bay as well over the Holiday weekend.

Yeah, and I'm in trouble now :D After having researched and read reviews online about the CX-1, pouring over AncientRitual's thread, and finding the eBay vendor, my credit card is starting to get ready for action.

Laurie-

You won't be disappointed. I really like the camera.

The CX2 is looking real good too. The only negative (for those who consider this a priority) is the "outdated" video capability. No HD and no optical zooming during video recording. I don't care about HD but not being able to zoom during recording is bad. Otherwise, it seems like a solid performer.

Hello again.
After the advice from Sarah to look closer on the Ixus 95is (SD1200is),
i started to compare image samples from the SD1200is, SD780is, SD940is and a number of other brands like Pentax, Nikon, and Panasonic.
And yes, it looks like the SD1200is has the "best" image quality of the cheaper compacts today.
I also saw that itīs going to be discontinued soon, so i ordered one before itīs too late.:)
Thank you for the advice!

Now is step one completed, to buy a compact that will always be in my pocket.
Now itīs step two, to find a more "serious" camera for the really nice shots.
Like the Canon SX20is, Olympus E-PL1 or something similar.
The search has begun... :D

Laplander-

Good luck on your new search. Personally, I really think that the image quality from the EPL1 is quite good.
