It has to do with warranty. A Japanese camera will have to probably be sent to Japan for warranty repairs. It might not be accepted by your local authorized Canon repair shop.

Boy I've heard stories about those kind of places. Betcha it was a NewYork shop.There is a good section on where to buy at dcrp's forum.

I really like Amazon, Free shipping no tax and sign up for their credit card and you get to immediately use it on your first purchase and save $30 more. Their price is $310- $30= 280. I've bought a dozen or so stuff with them ranging from CD's to vacuum cleaners and have been very happy with them so far. |
