It's a digicam, not a DSLR, so you can change lenses. However, it has lots of manual controls and scene modes. Lately, it's been on sale for low prices.

The p850 is the perfect camera to start with if you are new to photography!!
Its easy to use and create some very good pictures:-) If you have alot of money to put on a camera you can still buy a DSLR but I personaly think that a digicam like the p850 will satisfie you !! Im into photography for more than 2 years and the p850 is my second camera and I am very happy with it:| You can see some of my pictures here: http://boily.myphotoalbum.com/ Good luck Boily |

Boily-
Don't hold me hostage, but I recall reading that Kodak has a replacement camera in the pipeline to replace the P-850, while I was traveling. MT |

Yup, the P712 (I think). It's already listed alongside the P880 and P850 on Kodak's website. Given the good deals lately on the P850, I think the P712 is the replacement for the P850. From the information I read, it seems like a moderate upgrade, no real big changes.
