Lookin for a gift
I'm looking for a gift for a friend. They dont need anywhere near my Canon T1i, but I'd still like to find them something with a lot of bang for the buck. Here's what I'm looking for:

- Price point, less than $200
- Compact, P&S style
- Most important feature needs to be image quality
- Would like possibility to shoot occasional short videos

Was looking into the Nikon Coolpix S4000 but with all of the P&S cams out there nowadays, it's really hard to find one or a few to pick from. Any help would be appreciated.

Take a look at the Kodak Z-950. It offers very good image quality, 10X optical zoom, and does HD videos, where you can zoom while filming.Amazon has it on special at $111.95 right now. It is a very good basic camera.

nikon do not make that good of a point and shoot camera. panasonic, kodak, olympus, sony, and canon are better.

For 162 dollar with a 8x zoom and hd, the panny zr1 at costco is a good buy.

That is true, the ZR-1 has good outdoor image quality. But indoors the image quality goes to pot due to the very weak built-in flash on the ZR-1. I know and can speak authoritatively because I own the ZR-1. And I an NOT recommending the ZR-1.

I own and use every camera that I personally recommend. In contrast, the Kodak Z-950 not only has a good price, but it also has very good indoor image quality because it has a powerful built-in flash unit.

none of the under 200 dollar are good low light. But that is not a requirement.
