looking for simple point and shoot

I'm looking for a good P&S which will give me clear, sharp images. I'm not too worried about lots of features, just want to get sharp photos, preferably on auto mode. I'm looking to get something for under $300 at the most although would prefer $200 or under. I tried out the canon sd1300is and sd1400is however i found that the photos were all blurry and soft. I get clearer, sharper pictures with my old pentax optio30 which is like 10 yrs old and 3MP (however the images are too dark on this camera). I want to use the camera both inside and outside for close-up and distance shots...I would like it to be a small size if possible, i like the look of the canon sd series cameras but it seems the image quality is not very good....
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
