ok... i bought a canon sd550- it was defective so i returned it. changed to a casio 10mp. its ok but too small and the pics were just ...kinda ok. so, ive come to think a superzoom might be what im looking for. i take these kind of shots mostly..
alot of macro close ups..flowers, bugs and the like. buildings some landscape stuff indoor shots of my pets goofing off family get togethers at close range for flash..within 10ft or so. im thinking on three cameras...the canon s2, fuji s5200, and panasonic fz7. im really leaning towards the canon- ive seen alot of good reviews and pictures. can anyone suggest which might be best for what i do or make other suggestions? thanks alot! tony |

Out of those 3, I would go for the Canon S2.

thanks for the reply...thats what im thinking too. the only thing im still trying to figure out is if 5mp really is going to be enough. from what ive been seeing posted, people seem to think that for 8x10 or 11x13(?) 5mp is plenty. hoping thats true.

![]() ![]() You may also want to consider the Sony H1, better pictures than the S2 and comes withan adapter tube for mounting filters or teleconverters etc. Has a slow burst mode and very slow flash recharge compared to the S2, but has a more powerful flash and while the screen does not articulate you can actually see it in bright light andthe screen ismuch bigger. And the shutter lag / focusing times are excellent compared to the S2 , twice as fast at wide, slightly slower at full tele and 8 times as fast if prefocused. S2 vs H1 Shutter lag, full autofocus (w/t) 0.60 / 0.62 vs 0.28 / 0.78 Shutter lag, prefocus 0.083 vs 0.011 All timings from Imaging-resource.com |

Thanks for that chart...that helps alot! now im back and forth on the canon s2 and sony h2. i assume if you recomend the h1 the h2 would be better? the h2 is just at the top of what i want to spend but if its a better camera than the s2 ill go ahead and just get the sony...memory stick or not:?
any opinions either way? fuji and pana are now out of the running.. tony |

well i ended up getting a sony h2 today...looks pretty good and it just ' felt ' better than the s2. the moving screen almost got me to go for the canon but it was too small and the s3 too expensive..with the sony there's alot to get through with the manual and all the settings..my last camera was a kodak 7430- no dials!
ill play around with it for a few days ..esp with my pets and the macro setting and let y'all know how it goes! im hoping it's going to be a keeper! -tony |
