I had to have several surgeries so have not posted much lately but was given the same advice Jim and TCav have given you when I had your same questions.

I bought the A550 body only then picked up a Tamron 17-50 due to the angle of of view issues I encountered with my Minolta lenses when shooting close subjects indoors. Minolta made some wonderful lenses that pair well with Sony cameras and still use several of them from time to time.

With your current lenses paired with the kit mentioned you will be off to a great start.
