I do dog rescue and my subjects don't hold still. Since I do rescue I also don't have much money extra since they all come in with health issues. I need a digital to post their pictures either for updates on their condition, or so they can be adopted.
Does anyone know of something that will not take so long to focus that all I get is a tail or dog-less shot but won't cost me more than a couple of hundred max? Thanks a lot. Jane and the Hole in the Wall Gang See our Gang at http://www.flickr.com/photos/holeinthewallrescue/ |

Whatever you buy will have some lag between pressing the shutter and taking the picture. The best way to combat this is to prefocus - press the shutter down half way until focus is locked. Then when you're ready, take the photo. You'll have no shutter lag.

Since you don't need the higher resolution that's typical of the current crop of P&S digicams, would using a webcam be feasible? You'd be tethered to the computer by a long USB cable, but you could just push a button on the webcam when you wanted to take a photo.

Panasonic FS6 and FS7 are fairly quick. Here is a link to another thread -

Thank you SO much! I followed the "budget camera" link and then went to Amazon where I found a refurbished camera for $94.
I couldn't have done it without you! ![]() Peace, Jane and the Hole in the Wall Gang |
