Other than one more megapixel is the A610 much better than the A520? I am on a tight budget and it is for a gift. My father still believes in 35mm but would like to get him something to put photos on the internet, etc.. Want to get him something nice but dont have over 250.00 to spend (less is always better, but want a quality camera). Other suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I think Canon took a step backwards when they replaced the A75/A80 with the A510/A520. The A610 seems better built than the A520, which is plasticky and flimsy-feeling, at least to my hands. The A610 also uses four batteries rather than two, so it'll likely last longer on a charge. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

I surely do agree with Toshi. The Canon A-610 is the better digital camera.
