the canon and pentax can, but the d3100 does not see to have ae bracket feature. So that is a big disadvantage for hdr shooters.

alright so what camera am i looking at since the d3100 does not have auto bracketing? and my max is about $750 us dollars.
*oh and if i get the d3100 how would i go about taking multiple photos- with different exposures w/o auto braketing. |

You will need to take each one separately and ev up and down, increasing the chance of moving the camera slightly. And not getting a proper alignment for the hdr.

For 750 dollars total, I would look at the pentax k-x with the 2 lens kit, 18-55 and 55-300. It is sub 700 dollars. And the camera does incamera HDR also. If you are looking for just a 1 lens camera, the sony a500, canon t1i or T2i, or the nikon d5000 will do the AE bracket. And you can create the hdr with the computer.
