Default Need camcorder advice

I'm looking to replace a camcorder that uses tape because I don't think it will live much longer.

I will be shooting mostly fixed distance (camera on tripod) interviews (oral histories of female veterans). Quality needs to be decent but not necessarily outstanding.

I would like to have the ability to use external power since most interviews run 1.5 to 2 hours. I would also like to be able to use an external mic (and will need opinions on those too probably). The two interviews I've done have been with on-camera mic and the sound could use help. Flash memory is best I think, but what card to use?

I'd like something small, not too expensive (like in the $200 range if possible), and what the heck, really cute (OK, that's optional).

Any advice? I do have a Canon A590 but the batteries won't survive this kind of time, I suspect.
