Hi guys..
I am planning to buy the Rebel XT Which lens I should go for 1) Canon 17-85mm f/5.6 IS 2) Canon EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 II Zoom I will be buying only one lens, it for personal use. Taking pics of my family, little Kids (nieces J) and Macro shots of my Fish Tank. Because I can buy only one lens I want something I can use all for all the mentioned things. I also have an old Normal rebel SLR (Non digital) with has the 18-55 lens on it could I use the same lens on the DSLR … If there is a better lens then I ones I mentioned please let me know.. Thanks |

if your talking about the two kit lenses, buy the IS 17-85mm (28-136mm on rebel XT). the 18-55 is a buget lens, and will not give you the highest quaility pictures. the 17-85 will be worth the extra money.

If buying just one lens go for the 17-85. It's a much better lens.

yes, definately the 17-85. a versatile and quite sharp little lens.
