First off I have a good camera (Sony T9) but I now need a different one to fill a special need. Our product service dept takes pics at 640x480 for email so the mega pixels aren't important. I would like one that would charge by the usb cable (if any do that) and I would like the camera memory to appear as a drive letter in windows so the images can be selected by a certain program we use. Image quality isn't paramount but nothing like those cif images. Under $150.

USB cable won't transmit power, so they can't do that. Some do recharge in camera though with a plug. My Fuji has a DC port right next to the USB port where you can plug in the AC adaptor to recharge it.

Acessing the camera as a disk drive is really a software issue. I'm sure there must be a way to do it on Windows, because I can do it on Linux on most any digital camera. But, you're really better off just downloading everything from the camera to a folder on the hard drive, and letting programs access it from there. You're less likely to have any problems that way--you only let the camera actually write to it's own memory. Delete images from the camera after they're copied.

The USB port can definitely transmit power. There is a whole host of devices that run right from a usb port like fans/lights. There is even small cameras that plug right into the port to recharge however I've never seen one with a flash.
