I've posted previously and you've all been so helpful. I'm finally ready to make a decision. Here are my camera needs:

good low light performance(high iso capability) for indoor kid picture taking

high zoom (not necessarily mega zoom but something more than the 3x I have)

no need for video

possible anti-blur, IS for fast moving kids and/or higher zoom

I'd like to stay away from dslr, don't want anything compact and I'm willing to spend whatever necessary to get great pics of the kids with low noise when using high iso and no flash.

My short list right now includes the Fuji S5200, Canon S2, Canon Pro1 and Sony R1.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I have 2 toddlers and the S2 IS.. I LOVE it.. Low light works great for me (my place has NO direct lighting).. the zoom is AWESOME for their sports. The swivel lcd is one of my fav features.

I agree..the S2IS fits almost every one of your needs expect high ISO. Mabye you should see the just announced S3IS. It won't be out until may, but comes in a more professional looking black and can go to ISO 800.

But if you are going to miss picture oppurtionities by doing this, don't.

Youshould also look at Konica Minolta A200, with its 28-200mm lens.

That is VERY true.. they arent even comparable..

The S2 will eventuall be my backup cam. My biggest priority with 2 todders was the good video and zoom. This summer once I've got my moron questions out of the way I'll be taking the plunge to dslr.



At the level I am right now.. and the WICKED deal I got on my S2.. it's amazing.

VERY low light.. flash obviously used.
