Looking for a portable camera that takes excellent photos with a swivel LCD for self-portraiture, which would you recommend:

Canon G6 or Canon S5 IS?

The G6 is lighter/smaller and has a lithium battery, which I prefer over the S5's AA batteries.

However, the S5 has a 2.5 inch LCD while the G6 only has a 2 inch LCD.

Or what about the Canon A640? The A650 seems too bulky.

Seems like you are not concerned about the zoom capabilities. The G6 is only 4x, while the S5 is 12x and stabilized. If you are not concerned about that factor, then you would probably prefer the G6, because it has a remote control, and can shoot RAW + JPEG. The G6 was shown to have excellent images back when it came out in 2004. It looks like you might have to pay a premium to find one, even on eBay. Prices I found indicate you might have to pay as much as you would for the new G9, which does not have the swivel, or a remote control, but has 12 MP, if you think that is important.

Thanks, I didn't realize the S5 doesn't have a remote! Those always come in handy.

My current camera is only 3x zoom and that's rarely a problem, so I don't think I need the 12x...
