Hello
Im in NZ, and recently my Sony T1 got stolen, and to top it off, my MP3 player broke. Rather than buying the 2 devices seperate again, I was thinking of buying a new Cellphone with a built in camera + mp3 player, as this would be alot more convienient. Not only for pocket space, but I seem to always leave those two decices lying about, where as my cellphone is always in my pocket, so there is less chance of this happening again. The one thing I noticed with my camera was that 99.9% of my photos all got reduced from 5mp and put on the web / sent to colleges and mates (or buddies as you americans say). There fore I figure anything ~2mp would do. The one camera that stood out was the Sony Ericson k750i. A pretty good review I have found is here: http://www.mobile-review.com/review/...-k750-en.shtml (scroll about 3/4 down to see the image shots. There are quite afew). At has a pretty decent camera, an mp3 player and is only $550NZD. Do you have any recomendations on my purchase? The phone needs to be GSM (triband) or G3 compatable. |

Even at 2MP, I would expect photo quality to be much worse than a traditional digital camera. You will have no flash, a fixed focal length (no zoom) and a single aperature. The camera will likely be impossible to use indoors or with low light. There are many solid inexpensive digicams both new and used for under $200(US). I understand the convenience factor but for $550, you can get a phone, camera and MP3 player, all which will do a significantly better job than the hybid phone.

Might add that $550NZD = ~350USD.

Here's another review of the K750i with sample photos.
http://mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=...ource=MOSTREAD I own the K700 and I think it's a good phone, although the camera is not what I hoped. It is a step above the Nokia cameras, but that's not saying much. I almost never use the camera. Along with the Nokia 6200 I had before the K700 I have owned a 2 megapixel Toshiba camera, and a very small 1.2 megapixel Aiptek. So I've had some experience with these small cameras and phones in the low meagpaixel range. I think the K750i just might do the job. It does have auto focus and a few other features. Sony also sells a phone with the same camera and a few minor differences called the W800. It's a bit more music oriented, you might want to take a look at it. http://mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=...ource=MOSTREAD |

I think the W800 from Sony Erricson would do the job perfectly. A 2MP with flash. An MP3 player and a phone!

Cheers for the replies guys.
I would like the w800i, but its an extra $300 here in NZ (~$200usd almost) over the k750i. A friend of mine went back to china for a month, he is going to see if he can find a decent camera phone over there for me (alot cheaper than NZ). Might end up with the sharp P03 ![]() Cheers guys. (cheers = thanks in nz) |

Hiya,
I use a Nokia N95, which has 5 mp. Below is a copy of a photo I took with it. I hope you find something that is workable. The N95 allows one to make lots of changes, such exposure, sharpness, etc. All the best. Ned |
