I really hope this is spam from someone connected with Casio. I would hate to think anyone actually believes that a point and shoot with no optical viewfinder is the ultimate small camera that is so great nobody has to look elsewhere.

Even without an optical viewfinder, Igot excited about the EX-S500 when I saw that it had image stabilization. If the reviews were good, I thought it might actually be the pocket camera for me. When I realized it had digital rather than optical stabilization, I lost interest immmediately.

Baught the Canon Powershot A40 back in 2002. Baught the Casio EX-S100 in March 05, fantastic camera. Baught the Casio EX-Z750 in May 05 only cause I need the MPEG4 640x480 HQ video. But the EX-Z750 is not as sleek and slim as the S100, the Z750 has never beeen 100% adopted cause its bulky size - only S100 users know how it is to have a realy slim camera !

So - in theory I know what I talk about from experience

S500 is the S100 upgrade I have been waiting/hoping for. Now I will handle over the S100 to my daughter - the whife gets the Z750 and I will go get the new S500 :G ( The dog gets the A40 )

Optical viewfinder: Used it a lot on A40, the viewfinder was almot bigger than the LCD :G Never use it on S100 or Z750. But if you realy want a viewfinder then go get another camera

I repeat - there IS realy no discussion of which ultra compact camera to buy TODAY :|

Well - he can keep Canon too, for the sake of contrast :blah: Imagine the SD500 lined up next to the S500 :G
