The Nikon 1 is fantastic, but is not great for indoor or low light, the best of the Pens have an advantage over the 1.

If you are really not sure then go for the Nikon.
There are a million threads on this question on Pentax forums but IMO it is an entry level camera for the modern age (if you are over 25 you are already excluded) !

These kids are growing up using iPhones and the like instead of P&S cameras and to gravitate to a camera like the K-01 makes a lot of sense to that crowd, superb IQ yet a familiar format and not as large or heavy as most DSLRs and able to take millions of lenses.

If it is pure IQ then the K-01 is a hands-down winner, fantastic in low light and extended ISO range, superb reviews in the press and selling very well.
If you want a smaller system giving a major improvement over a P&S then both the Nikon (probably their best ever 'small' camera since they are not renown for that segment of the market) and Olympus (a proven runner with an excellent track record) or maybe even the Pentax Q if you want real miniaturisation (way too small for my hands) are all neck and neck so go out and try them all and see which one you are 'drawn' to. Ergonomics matter.
Pentax : 15 Ltd, 77 Ltd, 43/1.9 Ltd, Cosina 55/1.2, DA*300/4, Contax Zeiss Distagon 28/2.8, Raynox 150/250, AFA x1.7, Metz 50 af1.
