As regards the two cameras quoted, I have experience of both, and detest the Nikon because of the electronic viewfinder. In low light conditions - indoors for example - it is useless. The Olympus I have and it is superb, especially if you use the screen to frame the shot. But, as said, it depends on what you want to use the camera for. If it is general photography and family shots, the Olympus is the best because of the wide angle lens, but if you need a long zoom for sports etc I would go for the Minolta Z2 which will do the trick better than the Nikon. Read Steve's review and you'll like it too. In the former category also look at the Canon S60 which is ultra compact.
