if macro is something you are serious in, and with your budget, the canon with a 2 lens kit with the 18-55 and 55-250 would be a better option. As you can add the 58mm 500D conversion lens. And it will let you get really up close and personal with macro. The longer the lens, the better it works. It can work with the nikon kit 50-200, but will not have as close up results.

Here are what you can expect with the 550D and the canon 500D close up lens on the ef-5 55-250.
