I am in the Roofing business and need a camera to take before and after pictures of the exteriors of houses. I will make a portfolio of these photos and post them on my website. I have a older camera 2 mega pixel, but the pictures of the houses are not sharp enough to show the detail of the roof. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a camera to purchase my budget is $400 - $700

The Kodak 880 has 8 megapixel images. However, what makes it possibly valuable for you is maximum wide angle shots at 24 mm, so you could more easily show people the wholeroof.

Kodaks are usually easy to use. This camera is not great for action shots but for what you described, it seems suitable. You can get it online for less than $450, and for a limited time at costco online for $399.

That's a good idea. Anything wide angle 24 or 28mm would be better for you. Look for Kodak, Ricoh or Panasonic - however I'm sure there are other brands that make w/a p&s's so just ask at your local store.

Given that you want to keep the images to a fairly small file size for the web, 2Mpx should be enough. If you want to show detail, justshoot that detail close enough that it takes up the whole photo. Show two photos: one of the whole house (wide angle is good for that), and a close-up of the detail you want to show.
