I was thinking about getting the olympus stylus 810 with 8 MP but I saw that the stylus 1000 with 10 MP costs the same. It has got some bad reviews but I think people are looking for a real high quality camera in it since its 10 MP. What I want is a simple point and shoot camera that I can use to take pics of me and my friends at college. So, what really want to know is, should I get the 1000 or 810 when they cost the same?

Pmaw-

I own the 800 model and my biggest complaint was the visible artefacts that were visible in even 5" X 7" prints when photos were taken at high ISO settings. The Stylus 780 has received the best reviews. There is an excellent review of that camera over at www.megapixel.net.

Well that is not going to be a big worry since I probably will not be making prints of the photos. I will only look at the pics there on the camera and put them up on myspace and facebook :GI really like the look of the olympus stylus cameras so I might look beyond just the 810 and the 1000. I will definately check out the 780.
