Hi, I have narrowed my choice to either an E500 or D50... I am an amatuer so would love some input from you guys...

There are pro's and con's to each.
The D50 will take "cleaner" images at higher ISO's. So if you do low light or indoors photography, the D50 will be more useful. The E500 is less expensive, and there are some great deals on the E500 + one or two lenses. The Olympus has nice lenses but they are expensive. Also, with the crop factor, an extreme wide angle lense is going to be very expensive. with the Olympus. Another camera on your radar screen should be the Minolta Maxxum 5D. Minolta's are known for great ergonoics, plus the anit-shake built into the body. I've heard about the 5D available on Ebay for $600 (without lens), which is a pretty tough price point to beat. -- Terry |
