Overseas trip for 18 yr old

My son is going overseas this Dec. and I was wondering what kind of camera to get for him. He doesn't want to fiddle with it just point and shoot but it needs to have some kind of zoom and be able to fit in a pocket. If it could shoot some video and hook up to apple products (phone, laptop, ipad) that would be great. Also are there other things I should be considering?

The Panasonic ZS40 (TZ60) has 30x zoom, good video and is pocketable.
The Panasonic ZS30 (TZ40) has 20x zoom and is a little smaller.
Both cameras are easy to work with, have a good auto mode but also more advanced settings.
I have an Imac but I never hook my TZ40 camera on it. I take out the
memory card and put it in the computer, but of course this a choice you have
to make, both methods will work.

Sony has a broad range of products that meet your criteria.

The QX10, QX30 and QX100 are small cameras, no larger than a typical lens, that work through an app on a smartphone or tablet via WiFi or NFC.

The RX100 II and RX100 III are excellent P&S cameras that use Carl Zeiss lenses and 1" image sensors for low noise at higher ISO settings use (as does the QX100, btw), and communicate with smartphones and tablets via WiFi or NFC.

What car should I buy !!!!!

Cant answer without knowing what you can afford and what is planned for it.

You wouldn't buy a sports 2 seater for a family of five etc

Without knowing your son, or his interests and abilities, it is difficult to guess what to recommend. If he is a typical 18 year old, I would say that a sport type camera such as the Pentax/Ricoh WG series or similar cameras from Canon, Nikon, or Panasonic, might be in order. Most of them can transfer images wirelessly, and they are all fairly tough and should take a bit of knocking around.

I guess I don't want to spend more than 200 or so. As I said before he doesn't want to fiddle just take some pictures he can post on line. It will be used on his trip to Israel and has to be small enough to fit in his pocket. If it had panoramic photos that would be great.

why not grab him a canon elph? they're small and very pocketable, light, have good auto modes. there are some with decent zoom. they're not awesome in low light, but i don't know of a sub-$200 camera that is. the canon elph 130 IS is a good compromise with decent zoom (8x) and a compromise aperture of 3.2. or the elph 340 has a smaller aperture but longer zoom.

The Panasonic ZS40 (TZ60) and ZS30 (TZ40), both can shoot panorama.

The Sony QX10 (18MP, 10X zoom) is still an option, as are the WX220 (18MP, 10X zoom) and the WX80 (16MP, 8X zoom.)
