My dd's Nikon Coolpix just went on the fritz and she needs one for her photo class. Hers lasted about 8 years. The Nikon CP L22 sounds ok and there was a panasonic that sounded decent too, but don't recall which one right now. She needs a compact one with good macro, but doesn't need much telephoto. A shorter lag time would be good too and one that doesn't eat up batteries fast, both of which were complaints on the L22. Under $200 would be helpful too. Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum. We pleased that you dropped by. The Kodak Z-915 selling for under $100 might do the job quite well, The Z-915 has IS, 10mp, 10X optical zoom, full automatic and manual controls, a great macro or close-up mode, and standard video. Or Beach Camera (a very respected e-tailer) has a refurbished by Canon A480 with 10mp, 4X optical zoom, no IS, and standard video for $69.99 with free shipping. Amazon has the Canon SX-130 with 12mp, IS, 12X optical zoom (28mm wide angle to 336mm), a more powerful built-in flash, automatic and manual controls, and HD video that allows refocusing and zooming while filming for $249.00. The Canon SX-130 is the top choice, following by the Kodak Z-915. Sarah Joyce |
