Default Panasonic FZ200 vs FZ70

Can someone explain why the new FZ70 camera is about $100 cheaper than the older FZ200 model? I tried to compare the specs and couldn't find why one should pay that much more for the older model?

the FZ70 has a fixed screen, while the FZ200 has a very useful flip out screen. the FZ200 has an external mic jack, the FZ70 doesn't. the FZ200 has a higher res screen and much higher quality EVF. that being said, the FZ70 could be the right camera depending on your needs and preferences.

i had an FZ150 and found the 24x zoom was plenty long enough for me, so i'd go for the higher quality EVF and flip and twist screen of the FZ200 if the budget were there.

In addition, the FZ200 has the constant f/2.8 lens(the REAL difference....),and has faster continuous shooting modes.

G'day mate

As Simon says ... it's in the lens mate - and for $100 don't miss it
From experience - there are too many times when at max zoom and the lens max aperture drops to f5,6 or thereabouts, focussing becomes a real issue

To have a constant f2,8 lens is one of the signs of a professional calibre lens design - don't wait any longer

Has Lumix mirrorless & superzoom cameras and loves their amazing capabilities
Spends 8-9 months each year travelling Australia
