Hello,

I know they've stopped making the Konica Minolta 5D and 7D, but I was wondering...

Which would you choose if all were available and why? Pentax K100D, KM 5D or KM 7D.

I like the 7D because it has more external controls, although you can access most everything quite easily on the 5D through menu options. I also like the larger buffer on the 7D, which allows more continous shots before having to access the memory card. Once both buffers are full the 5D does have a faster write speed to the card. the 7D feels better and more well balanced with heavier lenses, but some prefer the lightweight more compact 5D. The 7D also has a higher resolution LCD and the viewfinder is a little better. Both cameras provide similiar results as far as picture quality. It is just a matter of what you prefer.

I cannot comment on the Pentax, because I don't own one but I have heard good things about it. At least it has built in image stabilization like the KMs, which I reccomend. You probably eliminated the Sony Alpha because you heard it is a bit noisy, but I feel it is still worth a look if you can't locate a KM 5D or 7D.
