According to the London Times Online the Pentax KX is the top rated DSLR for beginners...see attached:
http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source..._mc-qgrYIgJmYw Also I believe it selling very well in the top 10, including both DSLR's and Point and Shooters. Will it be the next K1000 ? I really like my KM (K2000) whic I bought 6 months ago and the KX has more features and HD Video. If Pentax market this camera (KX) aggressively I think it will be a very strong force in the market. I really agree with you, Les-
It appears that Pentax has positioned the introduction of the new Kx model rather perfectly to take advantage of the 2009 Christmas market. The two lens kits are very attractively priced. Have a great day. Sarah Joyce |

Hi Sarah, I'm looking to buy this camera and perhaps just the body only. It's currently going for $599. What all in one lense would you recommend ?....I remember you using a great lense in another post where the shot of Bradley was very detailed using your K2000.

Hi there, anthony_b-
Yes, I have found that both the Pentax Km model and the newer Kx model are just about perfectly matched with the Pentax 18-250mm lens. I have been able to get superb images using that lens. Currently, we are seeing more of the Pentax 18-350mm lenses on E-Bay. That may be because, it is a so called, "dim" lens (f 3.5 to F 6.3). However, with the high ISO capable Kx model, that issue becomes far less important and not really an issue. So, personally I still see the Pentax 18-250mm lens as a very viable lens, particularly when used with the Km model, or even the newer Kx model, where it really shines. Have a great day. anthony_b-
I have seen them going for $250.00 to $300.00. That is not bad when you consider that, brand new, they sold for around $500.00. Sarah Joyce |

i would just like to add how great the sigma 17-70 2.8-4.5 marries with a body with in-body stabilization like the KX. if you do not believe you need telephoto, its a great lens for around 370$. gives good closeup performance too and is a very optically solid lens. this is not just for you anthony, but anyone considering this camera or really any camera.
of course if you need the telephoto capabilities in 1 lens then of course, the superzoom fits your bill Last edited by Hards80; Nov 1, 2009 at 9:49 PM. |

The Sigma 17-70 is one of my favorite lenses. It is really sharp and it it a great portrait lens. Sarah Joyce and Bradley |

As Sarah says the Pentax 18-250 is a great lens...an 'all in one' really.
But if you have the kit lens ...the 18-55 and want another telephoto zoom to consider...doesn't have the wide angle range of the 18-250...is the 55 -300 Pentax. I have one and I've been quite impressed. Tack sharp...even at 300 mm. |

That is an excellent point, Les-
The Kx two lens kit that includes the Pentax 18-55mm kit lens with the Pentax 55-300mm lens is a real bargain. The savings is really amazing. Sarah Joyce and Bradley |
