I need a point and shoot camera for landscape, macro and portrait. I already have the Rebel XT that I use for wildlife with a couple of L lenses. I don't like to carry two lenses hiking or biking so I want to get a compact point and shoot.

The camera has to work well with the flash - I don't want red eye problems.

I've only looked at the Nikon P1 but open to other ideas and recommendations.

Thanks

The A620 has a 1cm macro at wide angle. Red eye is a problem, but that is a serious problem on almost every compact camera, and you'll have a hard time finding another compact with a 1 cm macro.

The Sony P200 is quite good for redeye. The odd shape let them put the flash further from the lens. It also has an optical viewfinder and some manual controls. It is fairly quick and has good macro capability.

I like a camera that lets you get a small area when zoomed for macro. You get a lot less distortion and can use the flash. Not very many small cameras have that capability. About the only site that regularly tests that is dpreview, and their tests of small cameras is spotty. You might wait for a review from them of the R1.
