How does one take a 6 MP image and reduce it down to the 250,0400 byte maxium allowed for posting on this forum?

By using any photo editing software. There are even free programs that will do it like Picassa and Photo Filtre.

I have both of the programs MT mentioned, and I like them both. My favorite for resizing pics however, is irfanview (it's also free).

I agree with the using Irfanview for resizing.
You can downsize an image using Image, Resize/Resample so that it's not too big to be posted here. Check the box for Set New Size, and make sure the Preserve Aspect Ratio box is checked, too. I usually select the Lanczos option from the list for my resizing. After you set up these options, when you change the width, it will automatically fill in the correct height. I'd probably make the width around 720 pixels wide for posting here. [img]attachment.php?id=56610[/img] |

After you resize it, use the File, Save As menu choice and give it a new filename, saving it in the folder you want on your PC.
The JPEG Quality slider is how you can control file size. Higher Quality = Lower Compression = Larger File Sizes I'd probably set it to around 88 or 90% for a 720 pixel wide image. That should good enough to get it under the file size limit after you downsize it. |

:-)Thanks all for the suggestions! I have Picassa and enjoy using it. I will check out the resizing feature.
