What would the significant pros and cons be of choosing the 10d and the better "L" lens vs. a rebel withthe 17-80 lens. Primarily personal family photography, landscapes, etc.Is there a "best choice"?

Sounds like your on a budget.
If I was very seriously budget constrained and looking for a DSLR I would consider the Konica Minolta 5D and buy some used KMmount lenses. If I was less budget constrained, I'd go for an XT with a 17-85 lens. If I had more money I'd go for a Canon 30D. Keep in mind you can save up and buy more lenses later. Better to buy the best DSLR body you can afford now, and add a few lenses over the next couple of years. -- Terry |

i agree.. get the better body, add the lenses as you are able.. the 10d was and still iks a capable camera, but its getting a bit dated..
