One of the benefits of high ISO is something like this. This was my second outing with this camera, Christmas eve at my daughters In-Laws. The far wall was about 18 feet away. I set this in Fuji's ANTI-SHAKE mode, and used the flash as a fill-in flash rather than a hard flash. This mode puts the ISO higher than normal mode would. So it does fill in the foreground, yet not over exposing it, and the distance is still light as you can tell. It still didn't choose a fast shutter speed as is evidenced by Doctor Phil (yes that is his name) on the far left who was walking at the time, he is a little blurred. The EXIF says it was ISO 400 at 1/45 second. So I could have gotten a better shot if I had used Manual and set it at ISO 800. But this was a fully auto shot. I don't know if the F10 has ANTI-SHAKE that rasies the ISO for you, but I don't think it is that hard to do manually. mine is a S5200 which sounds like it would be way to large for your wants.
