recently I thought about buying a dSLR...I started looking to the main brands like Canon, Nikon and also Pentax. Well, my uncle has and old Nikon (sorry, don't know the model) which is a SLR, not digital camera, and he has lots of lenses to use in his camera (about 10 different lenses). I was wondering if I went for a Nikon DSLR I would be able to use some of my uncle's old lenses in my new camera.

As long as you don't go for new D40 (Nikon dropped legacy lenses support with D40) you should be able to use them.

I have a friend in a similar situation - he has an old Nikon camera (think his lenses are all manual lenses)and tried to use one of them on a friend's dSLR. It wouldn't work. Did Nikon change their lens mount at some point, or is there some type of setting on the digital cameras that will allow you to use old manual lenses?
