As the title says. Ones I've seen are the Digital Rebel XT and XTi from Canon, the D50 and D80 from Nikon, and the A100K from Sony.

I like the fact that the A100K has image stabilization built right into the camera, while the XTi (I believe) has a self-cleaning lens (am I describing this right?), but then again, the D50 is the least expensive of the bunch and would probably meet my needs (somewhat undefined at this point) just fine..

It's hard to recommend a camera because it depends to a certain extent on what you are going to use it for. All of the entry level dSLRs take excellent pictures. They all are different weights and sizes - some people with bigger hands don't like the smaller cameras, while small hikers would want to save on weight.

You should also take a look at the Pentax K100D. It has image stabilization built into the camera and costs less than the Sony.
