Hi lundrog,
I just recently got my first external flash (for a KM 5D) a few days ago. One of the features I like about the KM 5D (besides the anti-shake) is that is has wireless flash capability; the integrated flash can control an external off-camera dedicated flash. This is something I wanted to improve flash portrait photography and it works very well. I believe that only the Nikon D70 has similar capability. With the other DLSRs you would have to buy 2 dedicated flashes (one on-camera, one off-camera), which adds bulk and expense. Since you are looking for a DSLR and flash, I figured I would mention it shall you be interested. |

I believe I am going to get a Canon SLR.
Has anyone heard of they will be releasing a new version to replace the rebel XT soon or is now a good time to buy? |

I will now suggest 2 accessories: 1 short term and 1 medium term Short term: Stofen omnibounce - a white plastic cover that slips over the flash that softens the light Medium term: If you find yourself doing a lot of flash work in places where ceilings are high or even portraits outdoors you'll eventually want a flash bracket. This will move the flash even farther away from the camera - eliminating red-eye. And it will allow the flash to remain above the camera in portrait orientation (right now if you turn your camera to portrait orientation the flash is on the side). Now, in many cases in your house and such you'll just bounce the flash off the ceiling. But if you do a lot of graduations or that type of thing you'll want a bracket eventually. Normally a flash bracket isn't the first accessory I'd recommend but this thread seemed to start focusing on flashes so I got the impression you planned on doing a lot of flash work. Enjoy your new toys!!! |

Thanks for the info!
Do you have any links with information about them and or prices so I can see how much they are? I just got a book on Photography and will go through that as I get time. Any tips are welcome. |
