Sarah Joyce
Thank you so much for answering. I have a canon slr I just need to replace my dead point and shoot to take with me on beach vacation, family outings, etc. We have 3 small children under 4 so I am always lugging a diaper bag and their gear. Sometimes my slr just doesn't make the cut on what to carry. I don't want to spend more than $200 or $250. Any suggestions? Thanks again. |

In that price range the best buy happens to be the Panasonic ZR-1 right at the $200.00 mark. It gives you 8X optical zoom (25 to 200mm) very good outdoor photos, and very good video out doors. It has a less than stellar built-in flash unit so your are going to have to keep the indoor flash range (camera to subject distance measured in feet) to LESS than 10 feet. It is a very good value as it has the OIS system of the more expensive cameras as well as the new 2010 advanced image processor. Sarah Joyce |

Thank you so much! You have no idea how much I appreciate your help. Now I feel like I can go back to being a mom and not chief camera investigator! It sounds like the perfect option. Really appreciate your help!

If there is a costco by you, I was there today and the ZR1 is selling for 167. It is a very good camera.

Humm, do they have lots of them? I've been to our local Costco a few days ago and at least here they do not have the ZR1. They have the FH20 instead + the ZS6 among other brands, of course.

They must be left overs from when they carried them.
