Have narrowed my travel camera choices to Nikon 7900 and Canon SD400. I've seen posts by people who claim that they "did not abuse" their SDs, but had LCDs crack. And, Canon does not, generally, regard this as a "repair under warranty" item (wrote both Canon and Nikon and they confirm this). The aftermarket warranties do not, I believe, warranty anything not covered by the original manufacturer's warranty, either.

Question: is there evidence that the SD really has this problem or are the posters defining "abuse" broadly (e.g., "I only stepped on it lightly")?
