I'm thinking about getting a new camera, and I'm looking for a camera that will respond quickly when I press the shutter button. I need to capture thatinstant when my kids are smiling, not three seconds down the road.
I'm looking for a point and shoot, at least 4 MP and less than $500.
Right now I have a Canon Powershot S30 that I bought in 2002. The things I like about it are the ability to switch to manual modes, many different auto shoot modes (portrait, landscape, color, action, autostitch, etc.) It's only three megapixels, and I want higher resolution since I frequently crop my photos. I also like the 3X optical zoom. I think that the size is okay, I could go a little bigger. It just needs to fit in my purse.
Also, I haven't researched cameras in awhile. Are there new features I should consider? Is image stabilization important and can you find it in cameras in the price range I'm looking at?
