Need a good low light camera and I've been looking at the Fuji F10, Canon a620 and Canon S2. Now I'm wondering if I need image stabilization and maybe I should just "bite the bullet" and go for a dslr or 1 step below dslr. I don't understand the "f-stop" thing ( although willing to learn) Most of my pictures are of my kids indoors and although with a flash I can get a good shot of them with my Canon S230, the background is pitch black. Raising ISO just ruins the photo with a lot of noise.

I'd like a little more zoom than I have now (2x) and also be able to grow with the camera.

You have two threads (questions) on the board right now. That is bound to cause some confusion. On your other thread I just posted an example photo showing approximately what a Canon A-620 could do at ISO 100 with a slave flash.

The Fuji F-10 could take the same photo without the add-on slave flash unit.

The Canon S-2 could take the same photo but it would definitely have to use the slave flash.
