Hi All, I am new to this forum and am hoping you'll can help me.
I am in the market for a new point and shoot preferably 8 megapixels or better, hd video option and a minimum optical zoom of 5x.
The final and most important kicker here is that the camera I am looking for and dream about is one that has no shutter lag (or the least shutter lag around). I have had point and shoots from sony, olympus and canon - (all good cameras however the shutter lag has always made me nuts.
Your thoughts and recmmendations will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
purificada :-)
the fastest performing camera with >10m, HD video, and >5x zoom would be the new ZR-1 from Panasonic.
it uses their newest processors to minimize start up time and shutter lag and does a pretty good job. it also boasts there newest image stabilization system, which is an improvement over their already impressive one.
read some reviews- sounds good, now what do you say about the DMC-ZS3K? i like the DMC-ZS3 features more than the zr-1. question is, is it faster, slower, same

ZS3K owner here: slooowww shuter. About a second and sometimes more.
Please keep in mind that the Panasonic used an older and slower processor than the newer ZR-1. Therefore the ZR-1 is both physically smaller and su8bstantially faster in its operation, one of which is shutter lag.

can it zoom during movie capture? mini hdmi port available on any of these two panny's?
reviews on the zr1 all point to very minimal shutter lag. which then made me wonder about the shot to shot lag. any thoughts?
all consumer digicams will have some lag, the ZR1 is just lower than most thanks to its newer processor. and yes all the panasonics can zoom during hd movie capture.
