I'm looking for a digital video tapless camcorder that fits these specs:
As small as possible, min 1G SD, MPEG4/MPEG2, min 640X480 resolution, a remote with record activation capability, auto-focus, optical zoom, user programmable auto-shut-off. Thanks, appreciate any help that can be given. |

I think the Pentax S5Z has all of the features you want. It seems to have a sensor for the standard Pentax optional IR remote.
The sleep mode can be set to off, 30 seconds, 1 or 2 minutes. But it doesn't have a setting to shut itself down after recording for a given movie length. It is handy that you can shut the sleep timer off as you can't with many cameras. Once it goes to sleep you can't usually awaken them with the remote. IR remotes are range limited and don't work well in sunlight. Edit - I just realized you want a video camera and not a still camera. My suggestion probably doesn't help there. |

If they every get it back in stock, pretty good deal ... otherwise you can get Gen2 and Gen3 of this product (made by Sanyo, fwiw).

Sorry for putting my question in the wrong forum Wise, I'm not familiar with this place so my mistake. I'll take your veiled suggestion and attempt to find the correct forum, or if you wish, tell me where you would prefer to see my query. |

Hey core, thanks for the input. I've already checked this model out, and the new gen made by Sanyo, the C5. The problem with it in regards to my application is the remote. It only works through the docking station, and only has a playback function.
