Sony A300 or Canon XSI

I was luckily able to purchase the a300 for $699 (mother's day sale) for the body and 2 kit lenses from crutchfield.com. From what I know they are a reputable seller. The only down side is that they ran out of stock extremely fast and it won't ship until the 19th. Oh well. I guess I will have to wait until then. Anyways, congratulations on your purchase.:-)

my sony a300 arrived just now! and it even came with a battery! in fact, the box is full with camera body, 2 lenses (18-70mm & 55-200mm), strap, battery and charger! i figured for $590 i would be missing something but it's all here! i do not expect super lenses but i want a 55-300mm or 28-300mm anyway so these will do for now.

whoo hoo! battery is charging here at my desk and i will try her out tonight when i get home (assuming the battery is charged by then). i LOVE getting new toys.

That a pretty good deal. I thought I did alright when I got mine for $599 with only the 18-70mm lens.

Me too! $599 with kit lens only. Ellenfl, do you mind sharing with us the name of the retailer you got your 2 lens kit from? I can still return mine an buy the 2-lens kit! Thanks.

tullio, i will have to look that up but i do not think they actually sell it for that price. i think they made a mistake posting that price but honored it, anyway. that's why i was surprised that everything came in the box. i was expecting a bait and switch but was (very) pleasantly surprised. based on this one transaction, however, i would buy from them again.

i will look up the name and let you know.

i saw a sears ad today (7/13/08) which has the a300 for $499 with 18-55 kit lens. it says you can save $130 if you buy the second lens (75-300 @ $239). i am reading that to mean you get the camera and both lenses for $599.

can't beat that deal!
