Please help me choose, what camera should you recommend more.

I`m using it for "normal" use and i think (also looking at my girlfriend) the camera mostly will be in auto mode. I like it if it has a quick startup time and cycle time.

I really love the 2.5" lcd of the sony but canon is a great brand within digicams.

So.....which one would you choose between these 2?

Buy an A620 ... you will not be sorry ... I also was going to buy a W7 but decided on A620.

But, if you're going to use it mostly in AUTO mode, as you said, maybe the better solution is W7, it is smaller, not as heavy, seems simplyer. I bought A610 over W5, cause i like more manual control, but if I was more to automatic (like you) I would buy W5 (15) rather. With Sony you get batteries and charger, but Memory Stick is more expensive. It's just up to your needs and expectation.

I chose the 610 over the W5 (bought both. compared.. took the Sony back to the store)..

The things that factored my dec. the most was that I found the w5 nearly impossible for me to hold with one hand.. it felt 'slippery'.. and it wasnt' weighted right for my hands.. I've got long piano fingers.

The Canon felt better in my hand.. has a bit more optical zoom.. and the swivel LCD has been AWESOME!!!! I used it through xmas.. sitting in a huge group of parents, I was able to lift my camera above the action and get a great shot without standing and blocking others!..

I owned the Sony p-31 previous to this.. Loved the camera.. no big complaints with Sony.. (I own a sony Handicam now).. but for my use the Canon seemed like a better overall choice. It's got some neat 'toys' in the menus too.. hehe..

This is the PERFECT 'mommy' camera.

I agree. Go with the A620. It gets excellent reviews, uses cheaper SD memory cards, and has superb image quality.

Personally, I would choose the Canon A-620 over the Sony W-7, or the Canon A-610.

The Canon A-620 is clearly the more capable digital camera for general use.

For the 100 diff between the A610 and 620.. I've heard the higher MP on the same basic camera.. is overkill. ??

Other than mp.. what's the difference of the 2?
