Hello folks,
I need some help in picking a camera. I wanted a 10x + zoom, with decent video capabilty and SD slot compatibility and pocketability ![]() So far the Nikon S4 looks good, but I have my doubts about it. No IS (dont know how nessesery it is so I dont know if its ok to have a camera without it. Also, while this isnt my first digicam, I have always used a viewfinder since I was taught that it is most stable way to hold a camera, so I dont know how much I will suffer without the lack of one. Also, I guess I am wary of the low price and dont want to get a camera with low/lower then average lens/picture quality. Any help from people who have used this camera or have alternatives I would be really appriciative. |

Hi
Have you considered the Panasonic FZ30? http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...=23&page=1 Regards Tony |

Canon S2 or S3 ?
Both quite a lot smaller and lighter than the FZ30. Excellent stereo video capability for small clips as you are limited to 1gb movie files. |

Thank you for all your replies. I have to say, I think it is down between the Panasonic TZ1 and the Nikon S4. One of my main criteria has always been mobility, you cant take pictures if you dont have the camera with you. Although I must say I have been sorely tempted to go hungry for a month and get the Pentax ist DL now with the rebate.
One concern of mine, is that initial reviewers dont like the picture quaility of the TZ1 very much. Gonna wait for Steve's review but anyone else hearing the same thing? I dont expect SLR quality, but seems like the many first buyersseem split over the camera. Thanks again for your experience. |
