After couple weeks of research, I've decided to get the A620. Just before I order the camera, are there any other camera at A620's price range with similar or equal or better performance? If yes, please list them and give me your opinon of them. I will go to the store and play around with them myself.
My other question is that is it really worth the extra $100~ to go with the "Superzoom" camera over the A620-range camera? I mainly use macro on my camera and sometimes shooting animals in the wild and flowers etc. Thanks for any replies |

in the price range of the a620...there is no better camera ANYWHERE...you should definately get it...as for the extra 100...i think that in your situation it might not be worth it yet...because te a620 is such a great camera it will perform without flaws and will satify your needs...then maybe if you descide to stick with photography you could look for a higher quality SLR camera for ex.

"Animals in the wild" require a lot more than 4X zoom. Many people into photographing nature are getting telephoto extenders for their 12X superzooms because 12X isn't enough. If you really want to photograph nature you will do better with a superzoom.

This is very true, I photograph plants and animals and I am seriously considering the 1.7x teleconverter for my 12x zoom camera.

More zoom or not, there will probably not be another camera such as the Canon A-620 at its current price. Canon is smart, they are very good marketers. They have found out that they can sell the SD-700 IS at $(US) 450.00 and above.
Why would the want to produce another camera like the Canon A-620 that is elling BELOW $(USA) 200.00? Knock! Knock! This is not rocket science! MT |
