Default time-lapse camera?

I was wondering if they offer the consumer a camera with a time-lapse feature? I would like to set the camera on a tripod and let it just shoot away on the sd card and see what i get. if the camera is on and takes a picture at low res. it could be a nice option. any suggestions?

I haven't kept up with the models that have that feature (which is often referred to as an Intervalometer).

For some Canon models, you may want to consider this script running under CHDK:
