I went to a camera store and looked at some cameras, actually handling them and looking at them is is different than just reading about them. I found the FZ35 to be somewhat unappealing. The viewfinder looked bad, the controls were not intuitive at all, and the feel was not that great. I looked at a Canon SX20, the display was weird and the viewfinder again was not great, but it felt good. I looked at a Sony HX1 and really liked it. It felt good in my hand, the viewfinder was great, the focus fast, the panorama mode and videos looked great, menus easy to use, flash nicely balanced, I bought it on the spot. I will probably get the HX5 for the other camera, I was also impressed with it. I looked at the FS7, but I liked the HX5 better. I wanted to look at the HS10, but nobody has gotten them in yet to look at. I can take it back and get a different one, I would still like to see an HS10. I don't think that the fact that the HX1 is due to be replaced is a big deal. The memory stick was a disappointment, but not a big deal.

in the end, you are the one carrying and shooting it all day. if you found the camera you are happy and comfortable with, then that is the right one.

The Sony HX-1 is a very competent camera. I own one and like it a lot.The lens is really amazing and very sharp. You made a very good choice.
