I, too, would like to recommend the Canon PowerShot A530. It takes decent movies, very good still pictures and is priced to please. Uses AA batteries, too.

You can use Windows Movie Maker to compress the movies so that they are more easily sent (and received) in email. If you don't have that program, you can download the latest version for free.
