I've found a Nikon D50 kit 18-55 for 600 + 30 shipping. one trick, it says the UPC code is missing so the seller could 've claimed the rebate, now would this make the warranty card invalid?

www.bhphotovideo.com has it for $649, no scams, no tricks, no gray market. Dude, your going to get burned if you keep looking for something thats too good to be true.

Well, I had a conversation with a Nikon employee a while back, and was told that Nikon will only honour the warranty for the original purchaser of a camera, and if the rebate has been claimed, they'd probably have a record of the camera's serial number (unless the company they're using for rebate purposes didn't provide it to them). But, the rebate company would probably keep tabs on Serial Numbers for rebate claim purposes (or if not, that's why you'd need a UPC). ;-)

I don't know if Nikon enforces it's warranty policy or not (must be the original purchaser).

I do know that they enforce their policy of not servicing gray market cameras (cameras not intended for sale in the region you live in), even if you are willing to pay them for the service. This is done to discourage bypassing of the authorized Nikon distributor (Nikon USA in the US), and often the lowest prices you see are for gray market cameras.

Stick with a reputable vendor to avoid those kinds of issues.
