Hello all!

I am looking for an inexpensive digital camera for my trip to Jamaica where we will be doing some snorkling and such. Wondering if anyone here has this camera or knows any good/bad things about it.

Vivitar 6.0MP All Weather/Underwater Digital Camera- 6200W

Found here.

Thank you for any of your help.

No, I am not an owner of this camera. However, if you analyze the posted user reviews, you will find that it is a bit of a battery hog, and it can be a capable underwater camera, providing you do not go too deep. The reason for limiting the depth under water is simply, the deeper you go, the less light you have for your photos and the greater the water pressure on the camera. An ideal depth, I would guess would be around 10 to 15 feet.

It is selling for less than $(US) 100.00, so it is not a huge investment. In my opinion, this is sort of a second camera, it will not replace your primary camera, but you could safely take it to the beach or on a rafting trip, where there was a measurable chance of falling into the water with the camera.
